GPS Coordinates for Campsite:  30°45'41.9"N, 82°13'37.3"W or 30.761629, -82.227029

Type of Camping:  Platform over water. Backs up to and has access to land.

Mileage to Other Points of Interest:

Suwannee Canal Recreation Area – 5.7 miles

Cedar Hammock – 4.7 miles
Canal Run – 4.2 miles
Monkey Lake – 9.2 miles

Notes:  Large covered platform area with table. Has raised vault/pit toilet 150-ft. away from

shelter to the left (southeast). WINTER 2024/5 UPDATE: just converted from day-use only shelter,

back to an overnight use camp. Paddlers that pass by during the day will still use this as a rest

stop; plan on having visitors during the day when camping here. Even though this campsite is

partially on land, there is not a fire ring here. Sits in a very pretty part of the Suwannee Canal.

When I began visiting Okefenokee many years ago, it was difficult to find good information and photos of what to expect. After dozens of trips to the Refuge, I decided to write a guidebook and create this website to help others.

This information is 100% FREE, including my book (for download). It's the same guidebook that is sold at the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge.

I am committed to keeping this website as up-to-date as possible and to provide the absolute best Okefenokee information on the Web. If you like this information, or you find it helpful, please drop me a line and share it with a friend. I'm open to all feedback and look forward to hearing from you.
